Risk analysis is used to identify critical areas of the supply chain design. Analysis of the robustness of the supply chain includes examining the effectiveness of contingencies to mitigate against risks. Analysis of risk and robustness is especially concerned with avoiding supply chain glitches, which financial markets penalise heavily, resulting in significant erosion of shareholder value.
